About DaycareNearMe

Helping parents find licensed childcare and read its state inspection records.

Our mission

We wanted to make it easier for parents to find information about providers and to be as transparent as possible.

DaycareNearMe is an independent directory of state-licensed child care centers in California, built on official California Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) licensing and inspection records, with plain-language summaries of inspection reports where available. Not affiliated with CDSS or CCLD.

What parents can check

  • Search for providers by location, care type, and licensing status.
  • Read dated inspection reports, citations, and any corrections recorded by the state.
  • Check complaint outcomes separately from citations and the record grade.
  • Compare the available records and use them to prepare questions for a visit.

Where our data comes from

We use official state licensing records. You can check the source agencies directly:

See current coverage, definitions, and our grade methodology in How we get our data, and assessed California reports in our California inspection data report.

What these records can’t tell you

Records describe what the state documented at a particular time. Missing records do not tell you whether citations exist, and a record grade is our classification, not a licensing grade or a guarantee of current safety. Our pages can lag the state’s records.

Summaries use AI-assisted extraction and can be wrong or incomplete. The official report is the authority; original report text is available to signed-in users. If you spot an error, follow our corrections process.

Verify current licensing status with the state, read the full record, and visit in person before choosing childcare.
